Guy Mercier

Like most authors, I'm a little strange too. I'm a multi-talented individual. I'm a graphic designer, web developer, multimedia developer, programmer, photographer, event coordinator, marketing manager, communications manager, and a few others.

My career spans over 30 years in the print and web industry. I was grandfathered into the Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario in 1999. I've received several short term contracts through placement agencies for web work in the government. I also sub contract to local design/web agencies. I am sometimes asked to bid on government RFPs through associations with other agencies or professionals. I'm always looking for work, so don't be shy if you need a graphic/web designer.

Working with writers, translators, printing houses, promo suppliers, exhibit fabricators, public relations or media officers, event coordinators, other designers and webmasters has given me knowledge that other junior designers and web developers may not have acquired otherwise. I also volunteer my time as the webmaster for two not-for-profit associations. The first is Capital Crime Writers. The second is the Bloody Words 2009 event.

I attended a recent CCW event and heard an author say: "I write because I like it. Not for the money. I'd still be writing even if I was not published. I simply enjoy writing." I feel the same way about my work. I love what I do. I'm not in it for the money.
