Cold Dark Matter by Alex Brett Dead Water Creek by Alex Brett Florence Brown grew up in the Ottawa Valley in the village of Killaloe. A shortage of teachers when she left high school after grade 12 led to the opportunity to teach in a one room school school house near that locale for two years. Meeting the love in her life in Renfrew and marriage produced a move to that town and experiencing work as a sales clerk, a waitress and work in a factory. Exposed to the boredom of these jobs she realized further education was a must. She began correspondence courses to complete her Senior Matric. The family’s move to Ottawa presented more opportunity. When the youngest of their four children started school, she entered Teachers’ College. Thus began a career of teaching in the elementary schools in Ottawa. Earning a degree was a long part-time process interrupted briefly for courses in Fiction writing. Working, raising a family and studying were probably partly responsible for ill health, a back condition and Fibromyalgia. Chronic pain led to a disability leave from teaching. In a desperate attempt to escape pain she began to write. Four published mystery books are the outcome.

She is grateful for a supportive family, a loving husband, Laurence, one daughter Lisa who owns and runs Tay River Gallery, two girls Nancy and Carol who are graphic artists and produced my covers and a daughter, Donna Brown, an international opera singer.
